\u201cKolarovets\u201d Newspaper<\/p>\n
In 1954, the Agricultural University \u2013 Plovdiv (back then known as Higher Agricultural Institute \u201cVasil Kolarov\u201d) began publishing the newspaper \u201cKolarovets\u201d, named after the patron of the university \u2013 Vasil Kolarov. The first issue was published on July 6, 1954. The first editorial board included: Prof. Georgi Staykov; Assoc. Prof. Peya Stancheva; Prof. Asen Katsarov \u2013 head of the Department of Mechanization; Prof. Todor Popov \u2013 professor of economics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.<\/p>\n
The newspaper was published irregularly, only a few issues a year, and from 1971 the newspaper had a break until January 1979 when the first issue of the new \u201cKolarovets\u201d was published. Some of the editors at that time were Assoc. Prof. Murgov, Assoc. Prof. Stanchev, Assoc. Prof. Tsolov, and Assoc. Prof. Behar. The photographs in the newspaper were supplied by Yanka Matakieva, the layout was done by Prof. Cheshmedzhiev, the sports section was written by Assoc. Prof. Sandyu Beshev, and Vasil Kerin and Nedyalka Uzunova were the organizers.<\/p>\n
The newspaper started with a \u201cYouth Editorial\u201d, where foreign students were attracted as collaborators: Alicia from Poland, Armenio from Portugal, Albrek from Yemen.
\nFrom May 31, 1990, the newspaper \u201cKolarovets\u201d was published under the name \u201cNiva\u201d (translated as \u201cfield\u201d meaning \u201cland plot\u201d) with Editor-in-chief Sashka Kalinova. The last issue of \u201cNiva\u201d appeared in 1997.<\/p>\n

The first volume of the publication \u201cScientific Works\u201d from 1952 of the Higher Agricultural Institute was printed in the state publishing house for agricultural science literature \u201cZemizdat\u201d, Sofia.
\nIn 1969, the \u201cScientific Works\u201d collection started with five books:
\nBook 1 \u2013 \u201cPlant Growing\u201d;
\nBook 2 \u2013 \u201cHorticulture\u201d;
\nBook 3 \u2013 \u201cViticulture and Fruit Growing\u201d
\nBook 4 \u2013 \u201cAgro chemistry, Soil Science and Plant Physiology\u201d
\nBook 5 \u2013 \u201cEconomics, Organization and Animal Husbandry\u201d<\/p>\n
