After 1985, the Agricultural University of Plovdiv already had a very good material and technical base. The university library, printing base and photo laboratory were united in a single center and their main task was to serve the educational process and scientific research work entirely.
The director of the newly established library, information and publishing center was Hristo Naydenov (1977-1986).
For many years, this center was structured as an Information Service Center and even until 2007, it included the following units:
- Information Systems
- Multimedia Center
- Academic Publishing House
- Library
The Academic Publishing House of the Agricultural University – Plovdiv as such was established in 1994. The design of the printing base was assigned to the company “Infoar”, which in 1992 concluded a contract for the supply of printing and computer equipment worth 12,340,000 BGN. The following year, the Austrian company “Brüderchen” supplied the main printing equipment. In the late 1990s, the Academic Publishing House had its own new functional building, with high-performance equipment, modern office equipment, a professionally trained team and a full closed technological cycle.
After 2000, the Academic Publishing House mainly supported the student admission campaigns and other events with promotional activities and quality print materials. I also published educational literature, textbooks, papers, etc. For the period 2004-2006, a total of 180,717 copies of finished products were printed.
After 2007, the Publishing House took shape as a small complex, including editorial and computer processing, a department for mounting and developing offset plates and printing, bookbinding processes and a bookstore with over 280 titles.
By the Decision of the Academic Council of 15.02.2016, the Academic Publishing House of the University is an independent center.
